About Course

The Howat Protocols of Cranio Fascial Dynamics (HPCFD) presents a detailed and informative series of modules on Cranio Fascial Dynamics (CFD) including the Howat 8 Step Protocol, written and delivered by Jonathan MP Howat.

The course consists of 8 modules covering all aspects of CFD and designed to include the major components that have a bearing on how cranio fascial distortions may occur and manifest.

Jonathan Howat wrote and designed the modules creating a balance of informative, theoretical elements and the all-important hands-on practical seminar essential for learning and understanding the CFD protocol.

The on-line theoretical modules 1-7 enables the student to learn at their own pace and in a preferred time frame.

Module 8 – the important practical side of the course – is delivered as a ‘face to face’ two-day learning experience for the clinical application of CFD. The live, hands-on seminar is designed to ensure every aspect of the stand-alone technique is mastered.

Module 1 – Introduction to Cranio Fascial Dynamics
Introduction to Cranio Fascial Dynamics – embryological mesenchyme generated on the 18th day of embryological development and the part it plays in the dural meningeal system with the central nervous system.

Module 2 – Cranial Anatomy and Physiology
Cranial Anatomy and Physiology – this subject is not new to anyone in the healing arts professions, but covers the anatomy as a functional living cranium with the presence of fascial dynamics in the mix, showing the distortions and deformations that occur in CFD and their physiologic ramifications and corrections.

Module 3 – Cranio-Pelvic Dynamics
Cranio-Pelvic Dynamics – pelvic reciprocity with the cranium, spinal and cranial dural torque, sacro-iliac lesions and lumbo-sacral disc degeneration.

Module 4 – Cranio-Vascular Dynamics
Cranio-Vascular Dynamics – venous sinus congestion, CSF stagnation, ventricular system distortion and compromised brain drainage.

Module 5 – Cranio-Dental Dynamics
– the implications of malocclusion and Temporo-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) that disturb cranio-fascial balance and sphenoid distortions.

Module 6 – Dynamics of the Internal Brain
Dynamics of the Internal Brain – central brain distortions influenced by the ventricular system congestion and brain-stem torque with resultant disruption to core neurological pathways and conduits.

Module 7 – Dynamics of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Dynamics of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) – the external types of traumatic forces that disrupt the counter-clockwise motion of the brain and the influence of the Tentorial Incisura.
